shan, you’re way more eloquent at explaining why you and ak did your wedding the way you did. now i feel like i should apologize to the brides who have done the traditional stuff. weddings are a personal thing, and whatever you like is exactly how it should be.

today i’ve been reading about where we got all of the ridiculous wedding traditions that American women follow religiously. i mean, i just feel like people do all that stuff without knowing why. just because they’re supposed to & because everybody does. well. i, for one, will not have a bouquet toss, awkward garter removing time, or cutting of the cake at my wedding. so ha. take...
so grant is living at my parents house right now and this morning he came in my room & asked if he could borrow a white t-shirt. i just thought that was the most awesome thing. whatever i gave him was at least 2 sizes too small…so i can’t wait to see what he looks like when he gets back from work.

today at arabica all of our customers were especially cheerful and especially generous with their tips. i guess it’s just the holiday spirit. but one older guy in particular stands out. i was wearing this necklace i got from a local artist, a little clay piece with a flower engraved on it. he and his lady friend were really interested in it. apparently the lady friend’s husband makes...

snow day!
snow days aren’t quite as exciting when you’re not a student or a teacher. yesterday the kids i nanny for had a snow day. which meant all 3 of them were home instead of the 1 i usually watch on tuesdays. oh well. we did all of the snow day favorites. made christmas cookies, watched christmas movies, stayed in our pajamas all day (yes, even me). played in the snow and had hot chocolate...
dad: okay, our verse for the night is revelation 5:5. who has any guesses about what it says?...no one? okay...i think it's the one that says, "jesus wept."
us: okay.
dad (reading): "an an elder walked up to me and said, 'stop your weeping!'" SEE! i was right about the weeping.
